My name is Alan and I’ve peaked Challenger in multiple TFT sets and I constantly work with top Challenger players like Ace of Spades and Salvvy to analyze the meta.
Patch 10.23 is another smaller patch that mainly nerfed most of the top comps from the last patch. As a result, there aren’t too many tier changes, but there are enough to change up some of the A and S tier comps.
NOTE: These team comps will be accurate when we publish at the beginning of the patch but are constantly updated by our experts. If you visit in between patch releases, there may be a slight lag time for when the blog is updated to match it so be sure to check our official website’s TFT team comp page for the most up-to-date info.
Bubble Trouble: S-tier
Nami isn’t a very consistent carry, but she is still one of the best performing one cost units assuming you find her as a Mage Chosen.
Team comp description:
This comp uses a Chosen Mage Nami in order to spam her ability. With Luden’s, Nami will deal lots of splash damage to enemy units who are also CC’ed with Adept.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find a Chosen Mage Nami.
6 Dusk: S-tier
Dusk comps didn’t receive much love in the last patch, but with the nerfs to the other strongest comps in the meta, Dusk looks to be another strong contender for the meta.
Team comp description:
This comp utilizes a Chosen Dusk to hit 6 Dusk in order to beef up Riven as the main carry. Jhin is also a good secondary carry who can utilize Dusk Spatula very well.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find an early Chosen Dusk, find good Riven items, or find an early Riven.
9 Cultists: S-tier
9 Cultists have shot up in popularity recently since the changes were made that count a Chosen Cultist as 2 Cultists for Galio. This makes Galio a very strong carry in the late game while the rest of the Cultist units are no slouch either.
Team comp description:
This comp looks to hit 9 Cultists in order to deal lots of damage with Galio. The cultists units themselves provide a lot to the team, and there is lots of flexibility in terms of supporting units to run before hitting 9 Cultists.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you have a Chosen Cultist and good items for Jhin.
Vanguard Mystic Ahri: A-tier
Ahri is now different in that Guardian Angel is no longer her best item with the changes to her ability. The comp still seems to be strong, but some changes will need to be made to accommodate the changes.
Team comp description:
This comp utilizes a Chosen Mystic or Chosen Vanguard unit in order to hit 4 Vanguard 4 Mystic. This comp looks to stall long enough for Ahri to one shot enemies with her ability.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you have good Ahri items, mainly Jeweled Gauntlet, and find a Chosen Vanguard or a Chosen Mystic.
Moonlight Diana: A-tier
Diana is still strong. She is a very good early game carry if you find her as a Moonlight Chosen early. Assassins like Akali were also slightly buffed, making this comp just a bit stronger.
Team comp description:
This comp uses a Chosen Moonlight to make Diana a hyper carry at 4 stars with Moonlight. You really want to have a Spatula in the late game in order to hit 6 Assassin, but you can have 4 and replace some Assassins with strong late game units instead.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find an early Chosen Diana and have decent items for her.
6 Sharpshooters: A-tier
Sharpshooters haven’t changed much in the meta recently. They are still good, but not over or underpowered.
Team comp description:
This comp revolves around Sharpshooters and Jinx as the main carry. It uses a Chosen Sharpshooter in order to hit 6 Sharpshooters to deal lots of ricochet damage.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find lots of early Sharpshooters and have good items for Jinx.
Warlord Katarina: A-tier
Katarina got a pretty decent buff at 1 star, making this comp more viable in the early game. Xin Zhao also got some good buffs, so he can possibly be a secondary carry.
Team comp description:
This comp utilizes a Warlord Chosen unit to hit 6 Warlord. The comp centers around Katarina as the main carry of the comp with Nidalee help deal early game damage.
When to make:
Make if you find an early Chosen Warlord or find good Katarina items.
4 Enlightened: A-tier
The nerf to Talon was quite substantial as he no longer hops to the target who dealt the most damage. This is quite big as it gives the enemy more time to deal with your team before Talon can snipe the carry.
Team comp description:
This comp revolves around the Enlightened units and the corresponding carries in Talon and Morgana.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find an early Chosen Mystic Janna or have good Talon items.
Hunters and Friends: A-tier
Ashe got some nerfs to her survivability and Hunters were nerfed at every stage in their synergy. The comp is still good, just not as strong as the last patch.
Team comp description:
This comp looks to combine Adept with Hunters to deal a mixed source of damage with units like Morgana and Ashe. Talon can also be run over Ashe and transitioned into a traditional 4 Enlightened comp.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find a good Chosen like Adept or Hunter. Also go for this comp if you are able to find Ashe alongside other 4 cost units like Morgana or Warwick.
Raikou: A-tier
Divine comps were gutted in the 10.21 B patch, making this comp a shell of what it was before. It can still perform okay, but for the most part, there are better options to choose from.
Team comp description:
This comp looks to make Warwick the main carry with 4 Divine and Hunter.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find a Chosen Divine and have decent Warwick items.
Moonlight Lissandra: A-tier
Moonlight Lissandra is another decent comp that runs very similarly to Moonlight Diana. While Dazzlers were nerfed, this comp can still win streak very well if you hit your Moonlight units early.
Team comp description:
This comp uses a Chosen Moonlight Lissandra as the main carry of the comp. This comp is very similar to Moonlight Diana except the comp runs Adept and Dazzler over more Assassins.
When to make:
Only go for this comp if you find a Chosen Moonlight Lissandra. Having good items will help, but the Chosen is absolutely necessary.
Vayne Mechanics: A-tier
Vayne comps saw a little bit of play for a short stint. There aren’t too many players that still go for this comp, as the regular Sharpshooter comp just seems more consistent. If you can hit Vayne super early, this comp may be a good pick.
Team comp description:
This comp revolves around 3 starring Vayne as the main DPS carry. Buffing items are placed on Jinx in order to beef up the damage of your backline.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find a Chosen Dusk or Sharpshooter. A Chosen Vayne is ideal, but if you can hit 3 star Vayne without a Chosen Vayne, then you will be fine.
6 Duelists: A-tier
Duelists have another spark of fresh air with the rework to Xin Zhao. Yasuo is still a great early carry, while Xin Zhao provides more of a mid game spike to reach the late game.
Team comp description:
This comp revolves around the 6 Duelist synergy to beef up carries like Yasuo who is ideally 3 starred.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find an early Chosen Duelist or find good items for the comp.
6 Elderwood Mage: B-tier
Veigar sees almost no play ever since his nerfs in the past. While you can possibly do well if you find Veigar super early, this comp is just nowhere near as consistent as it used to be.
Team comp description:
This comp looks to run 6 Elderwood in order to beef up Veigar as the main carry. The comp slow rolls at level 7 in order to 3 star as many units as possible.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you have good Veigar items.
Shade Spirit Bomb: B-tier
Zed also got a small buff with patch 10.23, but it’s unlikely that this comp will be as strong as it once was.
Team comp description:
This comp slow rolls at level 7 in order to find Zed 3. By combining him with 4 Spirit, he gains a ton of attack speed and steals lots of attack damage.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you have good Zed items or find a Chosen Zed. Chosen is not required, but it will help.
Ninja Assassins: A-tier
Akali recently got a nice buff to her attack speed, but the payoff for hitting 4 Ninja might not be enough to carry this comp back into A tier.
Team comp description:
This comp combines Blue Buff and RFC to make Akali an extremly potent damage carry. Ninjas and Assassins will buff up her damage while units like Kayn and Yone provide great late game additions.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you look like you can make Blue Buff and RFC on Akali. Also try to get a Chosen Akali or a Chosen Assassin at the least.
Brawler Ashe: B-tier
Ashe was nerfed a bit with patch 10.23, and the Brawler version of this comp hasn’t seen too much success over the other Adept version.
Team comp description:
This comp uses a tanky frontline of Brawlers with Ashe as the main carry. With a Chosen Elderwood and an Elderwood Spatula, you can hit 6 Brawler and 6 Elderwood at level 8.
When to make:
Go for this comp if you find a lot of early Brawlers and have good items for Ashe. Prioritize Quicksilver and Giant Slayer for her while slapping extra defensive items on Nunu.
Methodology
We evaluate compositions based on 3 key factors:
- Consistency: How well does this comp perform from game to game and how reliably can you build towards it given a reasonable start?
- Overall strength: If you do successfully complete the comp, how does it match up against other comps, especially those most prevalent in the meta?
- Flexibility: Can you make tweaks and adjustments to the comp while events unfold differently in game? These events include item luck, roll luck, and enemy units.
The combination of these three factors allows us to define team compositions as S, A, or B. The ones that have all three will lean toward S, those that are pretty good but may be lacking in some areas will lean towards B.

What is the TFT Galaxies battle pass?
The TFT Galaxies battle pass was released in conjunction with the new set, Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies.
A host of new champions have joined the autobattler, along with a new unique Galaxy mechanic that adds a bit of variety to every game.
It gives players a chance to earn some of the new in-game content for free, or at a reduced price if you buy the battle pass, such as Little Legends, Arenas, emotes, and the new ‘booms,’ which add a bit of flair to your end-of-round damage.
Gold streaks nerfed, player damage changes
After the first few weeks of play, Riot noted there were some balancing issues that needed to be addressed in the Galaxies set, specifically around the in-game economy.
James ‘Statikk’ Bach, senior gameplay designer for Teamfight Tactics, mentioned on Reddit that some changes are on the way for Patch 10.8.
For those of you who play TFT and care about this level of detail…here’s a sneak peek at a few systems changes we’re doing in 10.8 that’ll be hitting PBE soon!https://t.co/qu0SoCnLrW
Player damage will now scale more off surviving units, not just winning. Every surviving unit is now worth two damage, not one, while base damage has been almost halved.
On top of that, players will have to grind for gold streaks more. 2-3 round streaks will now both be worth one gold extra, four wins will be worth two instead of three, and three gold will only kick in at five rounds.
These changes should help solve people hoarding income and hitting their late-game units too early, regardless of whether they win or lose. It also makes lose-streaking a lot riskier, as open-forting could lead to your early demise more regularly than not.
